    What are Space Joists?

    Space Joists offer a great alternative to traditional solid timber floor systems.

    Space Joists are lightweight engineered timber floor joists that use timber top and bottom chords connected by galvanised steel webbing. Also known as metal web joists, open web joists, Posi-Joists or Easi-Joists, they provide a strong and versatile alternative to traditional solid timber floor joists.

    The open web design makes it much easier to route plumbing, electrical cables and ventilation through the floor structure, while the engineered design allows longer spans and excellent dimensional stability.

    All joists will deflect a certain amount. At ETE, we set our deflection limits to the minimum which reduces the risk of bouncy floors!

    This may mean you need more joists or bigger timbers. But it also means our phone has never rung with a complaint about bouncy floors. Richard calls it his “sleep at night button”!

    As standard, we also include all associated metalwork and strong back bracing. We also pre-cut perimeter noggins, saving you loads of time on site.

    We use Gang-Nail software to design a bespoke, made-to-measure Space Joist system for your project. Richard is happy to come and visit your site to take accurate measurements. Builders, self-builders and developers are all welcome.

We work to detailed plans and produce joists for your specific project. We then load them up and deliver to your site in Norfolk or Suffolk, ready to install.

      Yes, pretty much. “Metal web joists” is the general, descriptive term for any joist that uses a metal web configuration. Posi-joists and Space Joists are brand names for types of metal web joists.
